Obituary of Freda B. (Yetman) Gordon

Freda B. (Yetman) Gordon, of Peabody, died late Friday afternoon at her home following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Francis A. Gordon with whom she shared over 63 years of marriage. Born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Jane (Sheppard) Yetman. She was raised and educated in Everett, attended Everett Public Schools and was a graduate of Everett High School, class of 1939. She has been living in Peabody for the past 43 years. She worked for over 16 years in the city of Peabody’ s Public School system as a cafeteria worker before her retirement. She was a very creative woman who enjoyed cooking, baking, arts and crafts, cake decorating and doing calligraphy. She also volunteered at the Haven for Hunger in Peabody and was very active with St. Paul’ s Episcopal Church in Peabody. She loved spending time with her family and made each holiday special with creative foods. Besides her loving husband of 63 years, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank R. and Jeanne Gordon of Amesbury, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and David King of Peabody, Jane Yandell of Groveland, and Betty and Joe Laiacano of Gloucester. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. Paul’ s Episcopal Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Her visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’ s Assoc., 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.
