Obituary of Golffo (Shambos) Romeos

Golffo (Shambos) Romeos, 90, of Danvers, passed away on Friday, April 22. She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late James Romeos. She was the loving mother of Alya Romeos, and Charles and his wife Susan Romeos and loving grandmother of James, John and Jessica Romeos. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Marcus and by several nieces and nephews Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Smyrnios) Shambos and sister of the late Christos, James and George Shambos and Portia Pappas. She was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1937 and has lived in Danvers for the past 60 years. Golffo was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Philoptohos Athena. She was a seamstress and homemaker. She loved to create beautiful embroidery and needlepoint and bake pastries of which she shared with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Golffo’s memory to Spectrum or St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church
