Obituary of James H. Guzofski

James H. Guzofski, 78, of Peabody, husband of Lita A. (Caires) Guzofski, died after a brief illness on Monday, April 25, 2011 with family at his side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Jim was born in Peabody on July 18, 1932 the son of Anthony J. and Marion A. (McCarthy) Guzofski. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city. In 1952, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served as a Corporal before being honorably discharged on December 8, 1954. Jim began his working career at the Eastman Gelatine Corporation in Peabody retiring in 1991 as a foreman after 30 years of dedicated employment. Following his retirement, he was employed as a delivery man for Hawkes Auto Parts Company in Peabody until 2011. Jim was a loving father, who devoted his life to creating a home for his family, and then spent countless hours reading and watching cartoons with his 11 grandchildren, and later was so proud of their accomplishments. Another proudest moment was the arrival of a great grandson. Jim was the Treasurer of St. Ann’s Cub Scout, and he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods. In addition to his wife Lita with whom he shared 56 years of marriage, he is survived by his children and their spouses, James Guzofski Jr. and Mary Guzofski of Concord, NH, Linda L. and David Bogdan of Georgetown, Sandi D. and David Ott of Waukomis, OK, Richard T. Guzofski of Abington, Dennis J. Guzofski of Panama City, FL, and Jay A. and Michele Guzofski of Lebanon, ME; a brother and his wife, John and Lillian Guzofski of Peabody; 11 grandchildren, Mary Katherine, Phillip, Adrienne, Kristen, Rich Jr., Sara, Matt, D.J., Haleigh, Adam and Jason; a great grandson, Isaac; and many nieces and nephews. His siblings Robert Guzofski and Dorothy Ronan predeceased him. His family will received family and friends on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. As per Jim’s request there will no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. A family committal of ashes will be held at a later date.
