Obituary of Gertrude (Dill) Kriete

Gertrude (Dill) Kriete, 86, beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Kriete, died Wednesday evening at the Country Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Newburyport following a lengthy illness. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (Canty) Dill. She lived in Saugus in her youth and attended Saugus schools. She graduated from Saugus High School. She lived in Malden for a few years, in Lynn for several years, then lived in Peabody for more than 25 years. Mrs. Kriete worked as a Waitress in the Jordan Marsh Dept. Store Restaurant, first in the Boston store for five years, and in the Peabody store for 27 years before retiring just over 10 years ago. She was a member of the St. Anne’ s Guild in Malden, and enjoyed quiet times at home with family and friends, especially cooking and caring for dear family and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Fay of Haverhill; one son, Ernest Kriete, Jr. of Milton, NH; six grandchildren, Michael Fay of Tewksbury, Timothy Fay of Jamaica Plain, Jonathan Fay of Haverhill, Daniel Kriete of FL, Bill Kriete of Center Barnstead, NH, and James Kriete of Portsmouth, NH; one great-granddaughter, Madeline Kriete of Center Barnstead, NH; one brother, Leonard Dill of Salem, NH, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Woodrow Dill and Walter Dill, and sisters Evelyn Dill and Alice Dill. Her Funeral Ceremony will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 5 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
