Obituary of Maria (Nicketakis) Christ

Maria (Nicketakis) Christ PEABODY—Maria (Nicketakis) Christ, 91, beloved wife Peter Christ of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon at the Beverly Hospital after a long illness. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Selenikas) Nicketakis. She grew up in Lynn, and was educated in the Lynn public school system. She lived in Peabody for many years. Mrs. Christ was an Optometrist Assistant with Dr. Melba Graham in Lynn. A faithful and devoted woman, Maria was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, a member of the Philoptochos, and P.T.A. in Peabody. She was gifted with being an excellent baker and cook. She was a devoted mother and grandmother with strong family values and religious beliefs. She is survived by: her husband, Peter Christ of Peabody, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur & Linda CRIST of Peabody; two daughters, Rhonda Christ of Danvers and Joanne Christ of Peabody; two grandchildren, Jennifer & her husband Amir Jalali of CA and Nicholas CRIST of Peabody, a devoted God-daughter Charlene & husband Mickey Diranian of Saugus, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister, Peter, Nicholas, and Angelo Nicketakis and Angela Arsenault. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 – 8 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday April 30, 2011 at 9 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
