I'm sorry I can't make the services this weekend but I remember Joe very well from the years he played for the Willows B-1 team in the North Shore Indoor Tennis League. Now that Joe has arrived in Heaven he will meet a number of men he actually played against at number five in league matches, especially Henry McConville, the late captain of the all-Wakefield B-1 team known as Winchester Greens. Many times with different partners the two clashed. Once, probably in the late 80's or early 90's, Joe felt a bit sick so the match stopped for several minutes until he felt he was recovered. I believe the late Dr. Joe Morgan played against him sometimes as well. I think that I was lined up against him a few times although I was more likely at four since the knees didn't go until the 95-96 season. Joe was a true sportsman and gentleman all the way and our Green team really liked him very much. He preferred doubles so we never were able to get him to enter our age level tennis tourneys.
