Obituary of Henry N. Godin

Peabody, January 16, 2003. Henry N. Godin, 84, of Peabody, died Thursday afternoon at his residence following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth (D’ Entremont) Godin for 20 years and the late Joan E. (Hummel) (Clark) Godin of 27 years. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Alfred and Victorine (Miller) Godin. He was raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey and worked on the family farm. He later enlisted with the United States Marine Corp and was a veteran of WWII with an honorable discharged after two years of service. After the war, he returned home to his family in Boston and was a hard working man who supported his family. He had last worked for the Danversport Yacht Club as a maintenance supervisor before retiring many years ago. He was lifetime member of the VFW Post 9462 in Absecon, New Jersey, known as the biggest little post in New Jersey. Mr. Godin enjoyed talking to other veterans about there past experience and current world events. He had a heart of gold and was willing to help others in need. He was well liked by all who have meet him, with the way he would smile and joke around, and with the way he shared his book of knowledge with everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all those who loved him, including Janice Godin and Virginia Barnes of Peabody, Phillip Godin of Salem, Victorine Godin, Angeline Martin, Stan, Roy, and Keith Clark, Frances Hopper and Hidie Martin, all of Beverly, Judy Faustino of Danvers, Anthony Clark and Janet Shields of Georgetown, Christopher Bochetti of Bradford, James Clark of Maine, William Godin, Linda Mitchell and Marie Clonan, all of New Jersey, Wendy Dawkins of Washington, and Henry Godin, who is currently stationed overseas with theUnited States Army. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive him. He was the father of the late Thomas Clark and the brother of the late Angeline Dilks, Rolanda Godin, Brother Leopold Godin of Sacred Heart, Viviana Ennis, Alberic Godin, Rodger Godin and Ovila Godin. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Visitation on Monday from 4-8 PM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
