Obituary of Virginia (Parcher) Walsh

Virginia (Parcher) Walsh, 87, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died peacefully Monday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Walsh who died in 1973. She was born in Lynn, Ma, the daughter of the late Dr. Leon and Louise (Waterman) Parcher and was raised, educated and resided there most of her life before moving to Peabody ten years ago. Virginia was a graduate of Lynn English High School in 1941 and had been active with the reunion committee of her class over the past 70 years. She was first employed as a secretary at the former Hogue and Spragg Electronic Company in Lynn prior to her marriage. Later, after raising and nurturing her five children, she became a secretary at the A and D Automotive store and then at Capps Auto Parts Store for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed going to Ball Room dances and also line dancing and in her earlier years was active in Holy Family Church in Lynn. She participated with the Greater Lynn Senior Services at the Lynn YMCA for many years but her most cherished time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her four sons, Robert J. Walsh and his wife Joanne of Peabody, Kenneth Walsh and his fiancé, Sheila Bragg of Bellevue, Iowa, Richard Walsh and his wife Jean of Malden and Brian Walsh and his wife Denise of Billerica, a son-in-law, Joseph M. Mills with whom she resided of Peabody, a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Henry Goudreau of Danvers, MA, a former daughter-in-law, Darlene Walsh of Illinois, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Sharon M. Mills of Peabody who died last year and the sister –in-law of the late Catherine Walsh of Lynn. A Visitation will be held on Friday from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 10:00 AM.
