Obituary of Annie (Katsarakes) Papadopoulos

Annie Katsarakes Papadopoulos “Annie Pappas” passed suddenly on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at her longtime home in Peabody. Her last day was spent, like many of her days, enjoying special time with her family. Born in Salem, Annie lived most of her life in Peabody, where, with her beloved husband, Mike Pappas, she found untold happiness raising her two loving daughters. Annie was married 60 joyous years, and reunites with her husband now, just months after he left this earth. Annie was the consummate hostess, and never was the expression “kitchen is the heart of the home” more fitting than at “Annie’s kitchen”. While running a successful business with her life-long partner, Mike, Annie took great pleasure in making sure everyone that crossed her path was sufficiently fed, for today and more than likely, tomorrow. Her legacy was one of kindness, sincerity and generosity of spirit… she was an angel to all those that loved her and she will be profoundly missed. She leaves behind many; her cherished daughters and their husbands, Gail and Kosta Tsamardinos of Danvers, MA and Irene and John Tsouvalas of Georgetown, MA. , her adored granddaughters, Paula and Stephanie, and their husbands, James Ellison and David Hernandez, respectively. Annie is survived by her loving sister Kay (Katsarakes) Spaneas and sister-n-law Carol Katsarakes. In addition to her husband, Mike, Annie was predeceased by her siblings, Steve, Theodore, Nicholas, Peter and Georgia Katsarakes. Annie was enthralled with her great grandchildren, John and Alexia, and deeply cared for her many nieces and nephews. As a mother, a mother-n-law, a sister, a wife, an aunt, a grandmother, and a friend…Annie was beyond compare, Annie was an angel on earth, one of a kind. For all those that she lived for, she will always remain in their hearts and memory. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
