Obituary of Stuart Russell Sharp

Stuart Russell Sharp Stuart Russell Sharp, 92, of Colchester Vermont and formerly of Peabody, MA died peacefully Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington, Vermont. He was the husband of seventy years to the late Ruth M. (Jackson) Sharp who died last year. He was born in Dorchester, MA on June 6, 1918, the son of the late Ernest P. and Lila (Mellon) Sharp Jackson and had resided in Peabody for 46 years before moving to Vermont. Stuart was a graduate of Franklin Institute and later attended Northeastern University. He had been a journeyman electrician and later became a registered professional engineer. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy and was also in the Naval Reserve for 10 years. Following his discharge, he began working at the General Electric Company in Lynn, MA where he had been employed for 43 years as a professional engineer. Stuart was a long time member of the Lynn Camera Club and a founding member of the Golden Nails. He was an avid photographer and woodworker and spent many joyful hours at his workbench crafting holiday gifts for members of his family. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Robert Russell and Kathy Sharp of Peabody, MA, Stuart Russell and Eileen Sharp Jr. of Conway, SC and Denise Russell Sharp Nagelschmidt and Charlie Nagelschmidt of Colchester, VT; and by his grandsons, Brian, Derek, Kevin, Stephen, Robert and Richard. Stuart was also grandfather “Sharp” to Marni and Jonathan Ring. He leaves 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02115 (www.thehome.org) in his memory. A Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by Services there at 11:00AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
