Obituary of William H. Fitzpatrick, Jr.

William H. Fitzpatrick, Jr. PEABODY—William H. Fitzpatrick, Jr., 94, beloved husband of the late Helen (Pucko) Fitzpatrick, died Saturday evening at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late William H. and Mabel (McDonald) Fitzpatrick, Sr. He grew up in Salem, and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. Mr. Fitzpatrick served as a distinguished veteran, as he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal while serving in the United States Army during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and was in the European and African Middle Eastern Theater Campaigns. He worked as a Master Sheet Metal Worker at the Boston Naval Yardwith Pocahontas Steamship Company and the Teamsters Union associated with the Power Plant in Salem. He retired 30 years ago. William enjoyed woodworking and boating with his family. He enjoyed investing and day trading with the stock market. He is survived by his sons, Donald R. and Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Peabody and John and Alice Fitzpatrick of Wakefield; his daughter Susan J. Walsh of Marathon FL; her 9 grandchildren and their spouses, Sean and Susan Walsh of Beverly, Michael and Syd Walsh of Middleton, Megan and Katie Fitzpatrick of Peabody, Gary, John, Robert, Steven and Sandra Fitzpatrick of Wakefield; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, David Fitzpatrick of Salem; a sister, Mary Goodwin of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Donald, Robert, and Jackie and sisters Claire Dombrowski, Eleanor Kielbasa, Jean White and Joan Brennan. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday June 3, 2011 at 11 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem-Peabody line. Urn burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Multiple Sclerosis, 170 US Route 1, Suite 200, Falmouth, ME 04105.
