Obituary of Americo S. Pereira
Americo S. Pereira, 65, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. He was the beloved husband of Gracinda (Santos) Pereira with whom he shared over 37 years of marriage.
Born in Ponte de Mucela, Portugal, he was the son of the late Vitor and Lucinda (Simoes) Pereira. He was raised and educated in Portugal and then at the age of 16, he immigrated with his family to the United States and has been a resident of Peabody ever since.
Americo worked as a trackman for over 28 years for the Rail Road covering the Eastern part of Massachusetts before retiring many years ago. After his retirement, Americo enjoyed locating scrap metal and selling it in Chelsea. He also enjoyed gardening and was an all around handyman around the home.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Randy Pereira of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Kris Hopkins of Ft. Leavenworth, KS, his brother, Joe and his wife Annmarie Pereira of Lynn, his beloved grandchildren, Garrett and Ethan Hopkins, his mother-in-law, Maria Santos of Peabody, sister-in-law, Linda Pereira of Danvers, brother-in-law, Adelio Santos of Peabody, and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and by a large extended family and friends.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Church St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM
