Dear Gloria and Family, We are very sorry that Charlie has passed on. Sonya , Harrison , Hannah and I enjoyed our time with him so much. He was always a pleasure to be with and his quick, dry wit never failed to offer an amusing opinion during our discussions. He very much was a true gentleman and we will always have fond memories of him.

First & foremost, Dad, I love you like there's no tomorrow & I will miss you so much, however I know you are no longer suffering, no longer in pain. The strength you possessed was always amazing as you never asked us for anything. We were given the gift of being able to help you in your final days and that meant so much to all of us. You will be in my heart forever and ever! I also feel as though you took a piece of me with you as I feel this emptiness inside. I've been told the pain will lessen in time & I so hope people are correct, as it hurts tremendously.

Secondly, I'm sure I can speak for my family as far as Thanking Each & Every One Of You for your postings, thoughts & Prayers as they mean so much to us. Your support does not go unnoticed either.
Jim Testa & Jim Smyly, I still remember you both and always will. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to see Jim Smyly last night and we spoke of the good times we had at the Smyly Outings when we were kids... thank you as Dad loved you guys so much and spoke of you throughout the years.

May Dad rest in peace and God Bless each and every one of you!!! Much Love...Charlie's Daughter, Diane

My Wife Diane and I will miss Charlie very much . Gloria Mitchell is Diane's sister . Charlie and Gloria came down to our house in Pennsylvania several times a year . We celebrated all the Holidays together .Thanksgiving was always special around the table because we all expressed what we were thankfull for .Gloria always talked about how blessed she was to have Charlie in her life and how he helped her over some difficult times. Charlie would pretty much talk about how Gloria came along and made his life special again . We loved his sense of humor and all those "Charlie-isms" that we loved to hear over and over again .It took us a few years to understand that Bostonian accent but we loved hearing him talk about his days of racing snowmobiles , and race cars , and building engines. He certainly had a zest for life and left nothing on the table . Charlie and I enjoyed getting out and playing some golf from time to time . He used to kid that his score was so high he needed a calculator to figure the final total. So I know that Charlie is still checking the " Docks and Yards" , he is still talking about how this "food is good enough to eat" , how things are more "fun than people" , and how everything is " Golden" . When things were "Golden" , they could not get any better . I know that Charlie's Spirit is somewhere out there and he will always " Be Golden" as far as we are concerned . We will all miss you very much . Claude , Diane , Gloria , Steve , Ryan , and Dunkin the Cat . We love you.

I worked with Charlie from 1977 to his retirement..We had our sales offices next to each other..He was a pleasure to work with. Being new to Smyly, the other sales people would say to me kiddingly- "welcome to Decker Buick"...after working there a couple of months, I now know what they meant...It seemed every other customer coming into the dealership would ask for Charlie. I could not believe it...This went on for years (DECKER BUICK)..I remember Charlie as a handsome, square jawed, crows feet eyes and a great smile, and always a true gentleman. He was one of the most even temped person I ever knew. it's been quite some time since I conversed with Charlie and I am sure he will be missed by his family and friends..A car enthusiast????? I remember when Charlie would leave after work on Saturday and head to Pennsylvania to see some car races and return by the 8:00am meeting on Monday morning, Charlie just loved to drive. If there is one phrase to describe Charlie, (A TRUE GENTLEMAN).....So sorry for your loss......Jim and Rosanne Testa

Dearest Gloria and the entire Decker Families,

Charlie was known to us as "Charlie Brown", which our boys coined for him 6 1/2 years ago when he started working for us as a driver. He was kind, caring, respectful, taught the boys respect for their parents, he taught them skills and always sat down with them to talk, read or just joke around. He was a family member who go invited to birthday parties, celebrations, recitals and was their whenever he was asked to be for a special event.

Though Charlie has not worked for us formally in the past 2 years, he has definitely remained a strong part of our family. To our dear friends Patty and Phil, the kids and all of the Decker family,

We are so sorry for your loss. How blessed we are to have family friendships that allow us to mingle with each others parents and siblings. To feel a stronger connection to each other through knowing each others roots. Your dad, always a gentleman and distinguished looking drew all to want to be around him with his twinkling eyes and dynamic smile. It was obvious he loved all of you and adored his grandchildren. He was so proud to be at their activites and in awe of all their talents.
We are praying for him and for all of you at this sad time. I think he is in heaven, probably having a drink and talking cars with Dale Earnhardt. Charlie was one of a kind. We love you all!
Marina, Joey, Joseph, Stephen and Christina xoxoxo >
