Obituary of Nicholas Diamantopoulos
Nicholas Diamantopoulos, 68, of Peabody, died peacefully Sunday evening, June 26.2011, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was the devoted husband of Frances (Tourkantonis) Diamantopoulos. They shared 41 years of marriage.
He was born in Stemnitsa, Arcadia, Greece on September 29, 1942, the son of the late Dimitrios and Xaido (Papoulias) Diamantopoulos and was raised and resided there before immigrating to the United States in 1967.
He had first resided in Dorchester and Randolph MA before moving to Peabody 33 years ago.
Nicholas had worked in the restaurant business as a chef and proprietor for over 40 years . He had owned and operated the Kemps Restaurant in South Boston and later the Aries Restaurant at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers for many years. He was associated with the Supreme Roast Beef Restaurant at Maple St. in Danvers for 28 years prior to his retirement.
He had been a member of St. Vasilios Church in Peabody and was a devoted family man caring and nurturing his children and delighted in being “papou” to his grandchildren whom he referred to as his "sweethearts".
He is survived by his wife, Frances Diamantopoulos, his son, James Diamantopoulos, his two daughters and sons-in-law, Heidi and Matthew Mason and Paula and Brian Macdonald all of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law, Christos and Chryssi Diamantopoulos and their son, Dimitri Diamantopoulos all of Peabody, his three sisters Kiki Mantziavas of Athens, Greece, Fotini Parnassa of Tripoli, Greece and Stavroula and her husband Panayoitis Aggelakopoulos of Greece, his cherished grandchildren, Emily, Jessica and Andrew Macdonald and Cody and Lily Mason all of Peabody and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM.
