Obituary of Lester Woodrow Wilson

Lester Woodrow Wilson, 87, of Peabody died Saturday at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody after a brief illness. He had been the husband of the late Helen (Bell) Wilson and later the late Rita (Nelson) Wilson. He was born in Revere on June 17, 1918 the son of the late George and Nettie (Kiff) Wilson and resided in Chelsea and later in Saugus for most of his life before moving to Peabody 10 years ago. He had been a Truck Driver for the Catalano Trucking Co for 20 years. Later he operated Lena’ s Submarine Shop in Swampscott for 10 years prior to his retirement. He loved ballroom dancing and enjoyed playing on his guitar and organ. He also spent Many hours playing polka with his friends. He had been a volunteer at the Harvard Community Health Center in Peabody. He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Patricia Wilson of Peabody, William and Lauren Wilson, George and Brian Wilson all of Saugus, 3 daughters and a son-in-law, Joann Cummings of Revere, Elizabeth Wilson of West Palm Beach, Fl and Rosemarie and William Corbett of Saugus; a sister, Mary Martin of Peabody; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Donna Post and the father-in-law of the late Elaine Wilson and Robert Cummings. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Funeral Services will be held there on Wednesday at 10:00 AM Relatives and friends kindly invited. A Family Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
