Obituary of Edward J. Conway, Jr.

Edward J. Conway, Jr., 80, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died unexpectedly on Monday evening at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody. He was the devoted husband of Jean A. (Cullen) (Armstrong) Conway with whom he shared over 38 years of marriage. Born in Swampscott, he was the son of the late Edward J. Conway, Sr. and Frances M. (Eaton) Conway. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Public Schools. Upon marrying his wife Jean, he moved to Peabody where he has lived for the past 38 years. Edward worked for GTE Sylvania on Loring Ave in Salem as a fork lift driver for over 35 years before retiring 22 years ago. In his retirement, Edward enjoyed traveling to Jamaica and going on cruises. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox. He also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Peabody Elks B.P.O.E. # 1409. Besides his loving wife, Edward is survived by a son Dean Armstrong and a daughter, Debra Davidowicz, both of Peabody, a brother, Brian Conway of Lynn, two sisters, Patricia Whittier of Rowley and Joanne Norton of Peabody, two grandchildren, Brianne Davidowicz and Stephen Davidowicz III, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard “Dick” Conway and grandfather of the late Chelcie Armstrong-Hobart. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Pine Street, Peabody
