Obituary of Eileen Patricia (Hayes) Currie

Eileen Patricia Currie called it a lifetime Saturday evening at her home of 60 years surrounded by friends and family. Born in Lynn on September 26, 1930, she was the youngest of six daughters to the late William Hayes and Anna M. Hayes. She was the devoted wife of the late George L. Currie with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. Eileen never missed a Sunday Mass, a testament to her St. Mary’s education and love for the many priests and nuns that nurtured her faith. She was an avid reader and gifted pianist and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and striking blue eyes. Her children fondly recall her joy for life, her quick wit, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends. Eileen leaves two sons, Brain Currie and William Currie and his wife Linda and their son John, Eileen’s beloved grandson of Swampscott. She is also survived by her sister Eleanor C. Hayes of Lynn, her brother-in-law, Richard Currie and his wife Michelle, and her sister-in-law, Renate Currie, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She joins in heaven her first born son, John and her late sisters, Catherine Hayes, Dorothy Bourke, Marie Mason and Jerry Coates, all of Lynn. Visiting hours will take place on Wednesday at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. A celebration of her life will take place at 9:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Lynn. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn.
