Obituary of Norman E. Ouellette

Norman E. Ouellette, 85, of Peabody, husband of the late Phyllis Arlene (Murphy) Ouellette, died on Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester. Mr. Ouellette was born in Lynn on November 18, 1925 son of Charles and Marie (Valiere) Ouellette. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. During WWII, he enlisted into the Merchant Marines. Mr. Ouellette was employed for 43 years as a machinist at the General Electric Riverworks in Lynn until his retirement in 1987. Norman was a loving father who devoted his life to creating a home for his family, and later was so proud of his 3 grandchildren. He was a ham radio enthusiast, enjoyed working in his yard and garden, and watching sports especially tennis. A good part of his day was meeting with his friends for morning coffee so they could discuss national and world events. Mr. Ouellette is survived by a son and his wife, Timothy J. and Anne-Therese M. Ouellette of Gloucester; a daughter, Norma Lee of Methuen; 3 grandchildren, Dru J. Ouellette, Vladimir J. Ouellette both of Gloucester, and James Lee of Methuen; 2 dear friends, Paul Grove of Malden and James Hohman of Lynn; many nieces and nephews, and his loving Boston Terrier companion Abigail. He was predeceased by his siblings Gene Ouellette, Hector Ouellette, William Ouellette and Dorothy Shustowski. His funeral will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. (next to St. John’s Church and City Hall) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Ouellette’s name to the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 292 Washington St., Gloucester, MA 01930. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
