Obituary of Florindo Franco

Florindo Franco PEABODY—Florindo Franco, 86, beloved husband of Mercedes (Navarrete) Franco of Peabody, died peacefully in his sleep at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody on Monday evening July 4, 2011. Born in Lugo, Spain, he was the son of the late Nicanor and Flora (Vilafane) Franco. He grew up in Spain, and worked in the freight handling for the Renfe Railroad Company. He came to the United States, settling in Peabody in 1966. He worked in the Beam House area of A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody for many years, and then retired from Carr Leather in 1990. Mr. Franco enjoyed being at home with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors tending to his many gardens. He is survived by his wife, Mercedes (Navarrete) Franco of Peabody; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond & Karen Franco of North Berwick, ME; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria & Larry Shambos of Peabody and Esther & Kevin McDermott of Dover, NH; 7 grandchildren, Alexis and Olivia Franco, Ashlee Bogigian and Joseph Bogigian, Jr., Mercedes, Kaitlin and Jack McDermott; two sisters, Maria Franco who lived in Argentina, and Elvira Gonzales of Peabody, and a sister-in-law Arlete Franco of FL; a brother Julio Franco who lived in Spain, a deceased brother Claudio Franco and deceased brother-in-law Manuel Gonzales, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday July 8, 2011 at 8 AM from the funeral home followed by a a Funeral Mass at 9 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody.
