Obituary of Kathleen Mary (O'Donnell) Couture

Kathleen Mary (O’Donnell) Couture, 74, of Haverhill and formerly of Peabody, died Wednesday evening at her home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Roger Couture with whom she shared over 52 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Marion (Parsons) O’Donnell. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. She then attended Bentley College in Waltham and received her Associates degree in accounting. Kathleen worked as a tax accountant for many years, first with Harvey Bergman CPA in Salem and for 15 years for Paul Curtain, CPA in Peabody before retiring many years ago. Kathleen lived in Peabody until 1997 and then moved to East Sandwich for 4 years and has spent the last 10 years living in Plaistow, New Hampshire. She was a member of the Women’s AOH and the Women’s Guild in Manchester, NH, and she also loved to do crewel, needlepoint, reading, and enjoyed doing puzzles with her husband. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Susan Couture of Hampstead, NH, and a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Gregory vanValkenburg of Moodus, CT, and by her four loving grandchildren, Alison and Jennifer Couture and Samantha and Timothy vanValkenburg. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Church St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities.
