Obituary of Manuel C. Picanco

Manuel C. Picanco, 82 Peabody, July 7, 2011. Manuel C. Picanco “Bráz”, 82, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at the Boston Medical Center following injuries sustained in automobile accident three months ago. He was the devoted husband of Maria Soledade (Bettencourt) Picanco. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late João and Rosa (Candida) Picanco. He was raised in Portugal and in 1974 he immigrated to the United States with his family and has lived in Peabody for the past 38 years. He worked in the leather industry for over 20 years as a color craftsman, the last company he worked before retiring was Supatco in Peabody. Manuel enjoyed gardening and playing his guitar, but he what he enjoyed most was going for drives in his car with his family. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by five children and 14 grandchildren, Heliodoro and Scina Picanco and their children Breanne, Matthew, and Maegan, all of Peabody, Daniel and Cristina Picanco and their children, Justin and Tiffany, of Peabody, Anna and Kevin Linnehan and their children, Joshua and Brittni of Newburyport, Elizabeth and Kenneth Webb and their children, Aiden, Mackenzie, Madison, and Alexandra, of Wells, ME, and Dina and Matthew Wardle and their children, Jacob, Emma, and Samuel, of Saugus. He was the brother of the late João, Jose, Eduino, and Maria Picanco, Rosa Espinola DaCunha, Cultilde Melo, and Alvarinda Chaves. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday at 8 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody.
