James J. Owston
PEABODY James J. Owston, 83, beloved husband of the late Mary E. (St. Pierre) Owston, died suddenly and unexpectedly at the Salem Hospital on Sunday evening.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James C. and Mary A. (Costello) Owston. He lived there in his youth and attended schools there, graduating from St. Thomas Moore School.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army with the Air Corps.
Mr. Owston was employed with the 3M Company, serving mostly as National Sales Manager. He lived in several cities including New Jersey and Minneapolis, MN for several years. Upon his retirement he moved to Palm City, FL. He lived in Peabody for about a year.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed time spent with family, friends and colleagues, and lived his life devoted to his Catholic faith.
He will be dearly missed by his family, including his four daughters: Nancy E. Owston of Stone Mountain, GA, Barbara A. Donnelly of Troy, NY, Mary C. Powers of Peabody, and Joan M. Owston of Eden Prairie, MN; two sons, James C. Owston of Manlius, NY and Robert F. Owston of San Diego, CA; his cherished grandchildren, Kristin Owston of Manlius, NY, Charlotte Powers of Peabody, and Danielle Donnelly of Troy, NY; one brother, Charles Owston of Winter Park, FL; two sisters, Charlotte R. Theis of Lancaster, PA and Mary E. Owston of St. David, PA, and several nieces and nepwews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (St. Pierre) Owston and a brother Thomas Owston.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield, MA.
Cremation will follow the Mass, and urn burial will be in Stewart, FL.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Thomas Moore Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 495, Secane, PA 19018. Funeral planned with the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody.
