Obituary of John W. Mallia, Jr.
John W. Mallia, Jr., 47, of Peabody, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, July 6, 2011.
John was born in Salem on October 8, 1963 son of the late John W. Mallia Sr. and Lorraine E. (Chase) Mallia. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody Vocational High School Class of 1981 and was a lifelong resident of the city.
John was employed at Mallia Towing for many years as a mechanic and tow truck driver having to retire due to his failing health. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and working on cars.
He is survived a son, John W. Lendall of Peabody; 2 sisters, Donna E. Viveiros and her husband Mark of New Bedford, and Jo-Ann T. Mallia of Beverly; a brother, Gene McCullough and his husband Gerald Boutin of Bradford; 3 nephews, Nick Spiliotis, Danny Jenkins and Matthew Stache; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a close friend Tom Doucette. He was predeceased in 2004 by a sister Cheryl A. Jenkins.
John’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. A private family committal of ashes will be held at a later time.
