Obituary of Paul R. "Poppy" Fuller

Paul R. “Poppy” Fuller, 86, of Peabody, husband of the late Bertha M. (Vautour) Fuller, died on Thursday, July 14, 2011 with his loving family at his side at the Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers. Mr. Fuller was born in Haverhill on March 27, 1925 son of William F. and Viliana (Lalumiere) Fuller. He was raised and educated in Lynn. Paul was the youngest of 4 brothers and 1 sister who served their country during WW II. He enlisted into the U.S. Army on June 21, 1943 and served as a Corporal with Battery C, 535 AAA AW Bn and saw battle in the Rhineland and Central Europe, and being honorably discharged at Le Havre, France on January 18, 1946. He has been a resident of Peabody for the past 40 years. In the early 1950’s, Paul became an insurance agent for John Hancock, a position which he held until his retirement in 1985. Paul was a loving father who dedicated his life to his family, and later was so proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. In recent years he has cherished his 3 great grandchildren. He loved going to Foxwoods and was an avid blackjack player, enjoyed partaking in frequent family get-togethers, and was a regular diner at the Century House in Peabody. Paul is survived by 3 daughters and their spouses, Hope M. LaRocque and Robert of Aiken, SC, Kathleen M. Fuller of Peabody, and Linda M. Harkins and James of Lynn; 2 sisters, Lorraine Shaw and Loretta Fuller both of Peabody; his grandchildren, Paul LaRocque, Robert and Maryann LaRocque, Jason Harkins and his fiancée Erin Raftery, Julie Harkins, Adam Burke and Shannon Burke and their father; 3 great grandchildren, Bobby, Griffin and Mindy LaRocque; several nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Paul was predeceased by his daughter, Paula M. Burke and 8 brothers and sisters. Paul’s funeral will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
