Obituary of Harold Earle Barnes
Harold Earle Barnes, 69, of East Douglas, MA and formerly of Peabody, MA, died Friday, July15, 2011 at the Oakwood Rehab. And Nursing Center in Webster, MA after a long illness. He was the husband of Elaine (Budzyna) Barnes. Harold was born in Boston, MA on October 1, 1941 the son of the late Sydney C. and Mary F. (Ginnetty) Barnes Sr. and was raised in Boston before moving to Peabody in his teens. After graduating form Peabody High School, he attended Wentworth University in Boston before entering the US Navy during the Vietnam War . Following his discharge in March of 1964, he had resided in Lawrence and Boston before moving to the Worcester area where he had resided for the past 45 years.
He had been a fork lift driver with the Greystone Electric Company of Worcester for 20 years prior to a disability retirement in 1989. Harold liked to listen to the Oldies music and Elvis records and had enjoyed going camping with his family. He was the former husband of Edna (Mallard) Barnes. Surviving him besides his wife, Elaine, are his children, Shirley Gain and her husband Paul, Debbie Brow and her husband Donald, Harold Barnes II , Glenn Barnes, Edward Barnes of PA, Katie Barnes of Worcester and the late Sherry Lee Barnes. He also leaves his siblings and their spouses, John and Rose Barnes of Las Vegas, NV, Charles and Susan Barnes of Beverly, Christine and William Dunn and Marylou and Mark Bartkiewicz all of Peabody and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Peabody Police officer Sydney C. Barnes Jr.
A Visitation for the family will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 10:30 until 11:30 AMFollowed by Services at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062 or to the Mass Vets Emergency Fund, 32 Julie Place, New Bedford, MA 02740 in his memory.
