Obituary of Gerald J. Flynn
Gerald J. Flynn, 92, of Peabody, MA and formerly of Watertown, died peacefully Saturday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Eileen (Mullin) Flynn and later the late Dorothy (Rahall) Flynn.
He was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada on June 5, 1919, the son of the late Peter L. and Mary (Decourcey) Flynn and had resided most of his life in Allston and Watertown MA before moving to Peabody.
He had been a maritime terminal operator with the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company for 24 years prior to his retirement in 1970. Gerald was a veteran of WW 11 serving overseas with the US Army and had been a member of the VFW, Dilboy Post of Somerville.
Gerald is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Elizabeth Flynn of Peabody and Michael Flynn of Attleboro, three grandchildren, Kimberly, Tracy and Katie Flynn and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Patrick Flynn.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 9:30 to 11:00 AM followed by a Service there at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the No Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite 102 B, Danvers, MA 01923 in his memory.
