Obituary of Lena E. (Delpero) Gray

Lena E. (Delpero) Gray, of Peabody, 90 years, wife of the late Joseph A. Pete Gray died Saturday evening at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Gray was born Jan. 29, 1912 in Peabody daughter of the late Batista and Maria (Cornetti) Delpero. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident. She was employed as the manager for many years at the Windsor Button Shop at the Northshore Shopping Center in Peabody until her retirement in 1973. Following her retirement she and her late husband traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She loved sewing, knitting and cooking. She was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Katherine LeBrun of Beverly; a brother, Joseph Delpero of CA; a son-in-law, Philip Crean, Sr. of Peabody; two daughters-in-law, Dolores Gray of Beverly and Frances Gray of Danvers; twelve grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Robert Gray, Sr., John Gray, Sr. and Rosemary Crean and sister of the late Ernest, John, Batista Buddy , Mike, Georgiana, Stephanie, Phyllis and Rose. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location 978-531-0472 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
