Obituary of Janice T. (Cannon) Chalifour

Janice T. (Cannon) Chalifour PEABODY—Janice T. (Cannon) Chalifour, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ruth (Sheriff) Cannon. She grew up there, and graduated from Malden Catholic High School. She received her degree in Nursing from Salem State College. Mrs. Chalifour was a Nurse with the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody for several years before retiring. Janice enjoyed swing music with the great American Jazz songs like singers Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin among others. She loved gardening, and loved dogs of several breeds. She endured through difficult times and her character was determined to do the best for her children, and she especially doted on her only grandson. Through her nurturing she will be remembered as kind and compassionate woman who enjoyed living in quiet simplicity. She is survived by her daughter Susan Chalifour of Peabody; a son, Marc & his wife Susan Chalifour of Freemont, NH; a daughter-in-law, June Chalifour of Midlothian, VA; her grandson, Joshua R. Chalifour of NH; two brothers, Lawrence Cannon of Concord, NH and James Cannon of Barrington, NH; a sisiter, Dorothy Camerlengo of Burlington, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by her son Jeffrey Chalifour who died this past June; also, her late siblings William, George, and Charles Cannon, Winifred Farineau, her twin sister Janet Vangel, and Ruth Conely. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Tuesday July 26, 2011 from 4 – 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 7 PM.
