Obituary of Roy E. Spinneit
Roy E. Spinneit, 83, of Framingham and formerly of Middleton and West Peabody, died Friday evening at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham after a three month illness. He was the devoted husband of 62 years to Pauline (Roy) Spinneit.
He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late John and Emma (Kohlhoff) Spinneit and had resided in West Peabodyfor many years and later in Middleton before moving to Framingham 3 months ago.
Roy was a veteran of WW 11 serving with the US Navy . He had been an aviation mechanic for over 24 years, first with Northeast Airlines and later at US Airways prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed working around his vegetable garden and had been an avid reader of military history . He had been a member of the Leo Council # 508 Knights of Columbus of Peabody and the Fourth Degree Father Gabriel Druillette Assembly. Roy also enjoyed the outdoor life and was a member of the Danvers Fish & Game Club.
Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew J. and Tenney Spinneit of Danvers, and a very close friend, Pam Carpenter of Danvers,who he referred to as his second daughter-in-law and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Hans Spinneit.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., Middleton at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Catholic Charities, 55 Sleeper St., Boston, MA 02210 or to the Carmelite Sisters, care of Carmel Terrace, 933 Central St., Framingham, MA 01701 in his memory.
