Obituary of Elaine (Maravelias) Papandreou

Elaine (Maravelias) Papandreou, 73, of Beverly, died Friday at her home surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of Charles N. Papandreou and a resident of Beverly for the past 48 years. Elaine was born in Lynn, MA on May 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Theodore and Renee (Valencia) Maravelias and was raised and educated there graduating from Lynn English High School . She later graduated Magna Cum Laude from Salem State College in 1960. She had been an Elementary teacher in the Town of Reading School System for a brief term. She then stayed home to raise her family and later became a substitute teacher with the Beverly School System. She enjoyed cooking but her greatest joy was being for her family and nourishing them with love and kindness. Surviving her besides her husband are a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Amy Papandreou of Far Hills, New Jersey, a daughter , A. Leslie Maher of Beverly, a brother, James and his wife Donna Maravelias of Topsfield, a sister , Cynthia Parianos and her husband Dr. John Parianos of Peabody, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Maravelias of Ipswich, MA, her cherished grandchildren, David and Matthew Maher of Beverly, Charles, Zoe and Alexa Papandreou of Far Hills, NJ, and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody at 10:00 AM.
