Alvaro F. Azevedo
PEABODY—Alvaro F. Azevedo, 79, beloved husband of Teresa (Paulino) Azevedo, died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning September 14, 2011 at the Pilgrim House Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center following a brief illness.
Born in S. Paio Gouveia, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel de Azevedo Serrano and Adelia de Almeida Brizida. He grew up there, and then came to the United States, settling in Peabody where he lived the last 35 years.
Mr. Azevedo worked at Printed Circuit in Woburn for over 10 years before retiring.
While retired, Alvaro did what he enjoyed most by being with his family. A devoted husband and father, he adored his grandchildren and loved getting them after school or taking them different places. He enjoyed Portuguese music, gardening vegetables, loved soccer and following his team in Portugal. He was a member of the Club Luis de Cameos (CLC) of Peabody, the Holy Ghost Society, and longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa (Paulino) Azevedo of Peabody, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage; a daughter and son-in-law, Ligia & Rui Rosa of Peabody; two grandchildren, Scott and Kayla Rosa of Peabody; a sister-in-law, Maria Azevedo of Peabody; a niece, Rose Azevedo of Peabody; two nephews, Roy & Joyce Azevedo of CA and Paul & Kristin Azevedo of Hong Kong, China. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a brother Antonio Azevedo.
A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 – 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday at 8 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
