Obituary of Nancy M (Deveney) Dolan

Nancy (Deveney) Dolan, 60, of Conway, SC, formerly of Peabody, MA, died late Monday evening following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Stephen E. Dolan with whom she shared 39 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of Lillian M. Deveney and the late Robert P. Deveney. She was raised and educated in Saugus, graduating from Saugus High School Class of 1970. She went on to receive a BS in Business from Emmanuel College in Boston in 1998. Nancy was initially employed by New England Telephone in Central Square Lynn as a File Clerk. She remained with the company for 38 years as it transitioned to Verizon in Dallas-Fort worth TX. When she retired in 2006, Nancy had achieved a Financial Management position. Most recently, she worked as a substitute school teacher in Conway, SC where she lived with her husband. Nancy belonged to the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Elks in MA, TX and SC, where she volunteered to cook for the lodge members and help with numerous charitable events. She was always doing something special for someone else. She loved travelling with her husband and pampering her two Siamese cats, Scully and Sandy. Nancy was a gift to be treasured by everyone whose life she touched. Nancy is survived by her husband Stephen; son Patrick Dolan and his wife Teresa of Atlanta, GA; step-son Mark Dolan of Peabody, MA; mother Lillian Deveney of Peabody, MA; grandson Sean Dolan of North Reading, MA; step grandson, Joshua and Jordan Spratlin, sister June Andersen of Peabody, MA; nephew Brian Andersen and his wife Laura and their children Kaitlyn and Scott of Fiskdale, MA; niece Kimberley Andersen Kocur (deceased) and her husband Paul and their children Krista, Tim and Alex of Auburn, NY; three sisters-in-law and their husbands Gail and Brian Dougherty of Ipswich, MA; Cheryl and Scott Havenook of NC; Debra and Scott Jeffers of Salem, MA as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 20 at the Conway-Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park on Lake Street, Peabody. Visiting hours will be on Monday, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
