8 Dorothy S. (Howarth) (Lowry) Bateman PEABODY—Dorothy S. (Howarth) (Lowry) Bateman, 89, wife of the late Leslie Bateman, passed away quietly in her sleep Monday evening at the Rosewood Nursing Center in Peabody, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Jeanette (Alexander) Howarth. She was a lifelong resident of the city, and graduated from Peabody High School. She continued her education at Essex Aggie studying to be a Seamstress. Mrs. Bateman enjoyed nurturing her family at home. Later in life she worked for General Electric in Lynn for nearly 11 years before retiring. Dorothy enjoyed going to the dog racing track, and gatherings with family and friends. She was active at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peabody. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth & Linda Lowry and Richard & Julie Lowry all of Peabody; a daughter, Robin Tinkham of Salisbury; a brother, Richard Howarth of Peabody & FL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Linda Pietraszek of Lynn; a son-in-law Al Foisey of Haverhill, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a son Michael Pietraszek and Cynthia Pietraszek Foisey. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday September 23, 2011 at 11 AM for her Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
