Obituary of Jacqueline B "Jacky" (Belanger) Wilson

Jacqueline “Jacky” (Belanger) Wilson, 84, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died Saturday evening at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John F. Wilson, Sr. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Wilfrid and Rose Ann (Voyer) Belanger. She attended Salem Schools and graduated from St. Joseph School in 1944. She has lived in Peabody for the last 53 years. After high school, Jacky went to work at GTE Sylvania for six years and upon marrying her husband John in 1950, she started her family and raised her children. After her children had grown, she went back to work for the city of Peabody at the Electric Light Department for twelve years before finally retiring in 1990. Jacky was an active member of St. Ann’s Church and was a prefix and treasurer for St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality and was a Girl Scout troop leader as well. She also enjoyed knitting, cooking, and later, watching her grandchildren and all of their endeavors. She is survived by her loving children, John F. “Jay” Wilson, Jr., Maryellen and her husband Garry Sullivan, Dianne and her husband Lawrence “Lonnie” Brennan, Janet and her husband Alan Zani, her sisters, Rita Sweeney and Irene Murphy, and by her nine grandchildren, Kevin, Scott, Corey, Wesley, Elyse, Kinsey, Sarah, Erik, and Erin, an is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Jacqueline “Lin” and Pamela Wilson, and sister of the late Beatrice Barbrick and Jeanette McDermott. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
