Obituary of Maria A. dos Anjos Santos

Maria A. (dos Anjos) Santos PEABODY—Maria A. (dos Anjos) Santos, 90, beloved wife of the late Jose E. dos Santos, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning September 27, 2011, at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers, following a long illness. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose E. dos Anjos and Elvira A. de Melo. She came to the United States, and settled in Peabody where she lived for over 40 years. Mrs. Santos was an Inspector with New England Sportswear in Peabody where she worked for 22 years before retiring. Maria was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. She enjoyed living simply at home, tending to her garden, sewing, and crochet. She was very fond and proud of her family. She is survived by: two daughters, Zelia Baptista & her companion Dennis Hedlund both of Peabody, and Almerinda & Tom Capaldo of Townsend, MA; a son, Charles dos Santos of Peabody; three grandchildren, Mark and Matthew Capaldo, and Susana Baptista; two great-grandchildren, Julia and Amelia Stasinos; three brothers, Jose Espinola, Joao Espinola and Antonio E. dos Anjos all of Portugal; four sisters, Gloria Melo of the Azores, Portugal, Teresinha Silva of Peabody, Conceicao Bettencourt of Salem, and Arcelinda Cunha of the Azores, Portugal, and several extended family, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by a daughter Elmira Santos, a brother Manuel dos Anjos, and Alexandrina Cunha. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather from the funeral home on Friday September 30, 2011 at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody.
