Obituary of Daniel Mahoney

Daniel Mahoney, 73, of Peabody died Monday evening at the Beverly Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Rose (Bertoldi) Mahoney with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He was born in Salem, Ma on August 14, 1932, the son of the late William J. and Josephine (Gallant) Mahoney and was educated there and had resided in Peabody for the past fifty years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Coast Guard. Following his discharge, he was employed at the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Co., Peabody for 15 years prior to a disability retirement 35 years ago. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and had belonged to the Holy Name Society and the choir there for many years. He enjoyed drawing and gardening around his home. Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Karen Mahoney of East Boston, and Greg Mahoney of Peabody, two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Walter Fletcher of Fremont, NH and Janet Fonzo of Beverly, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Mahoney of Salem, a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Armand Carusi of Beverly; 3 grandchildren, Erin Baptista of Dover, NH, Jason Mahoney of Danvers and Nathan Mahoney of Salem; 2 great grandchildren, Anthony and Jacob Baptista of Dover, NH, a brother-in-law, Anthony Bob Bertoldi of Medford and a sister-in-law, Mary Vieira of Peabody and many nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass of Resurrection in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody/Salem line at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
