Obituary of Richard W. Maloney
Richard W. Maloney, 86, of Danvers and formerly of Newburyport, died Friday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his family at his side after a short illness. He was the husband of 59 years of marriage to Norma (Lee) Maloney.
He was born in Chelsea, MA on August 25, 1925, and was raised in Revere graduating from
Revere High School. Richard later resided for more than 30 years in Newburyport before moving to Danvers 10 years ago. He entered the US Army serving overseas during WW II in the battle of the Bulge with the 106th Division Military Police Platoon prior to his discharge in March of 1946.
He had been an instrumentation Analyst for the General Electric Company river works plant in Lynn for 44 years.
Richard enjoyed spending many summers at the family camp in Harrison Maine. He also loved to paint and made several paintings over the years. He was a photography buff and enjoyed taking pictures of the family and also while traveling with his wife to different places. Richard and his wife Norma were members of the Community Covenant Church of Peabody.
Surviving him besides his wife are two sons, James Maloney and his wife Jennifer of Mission Viejo, CA, and Kevin Maloney and his partner Barry Adams of Brattleboro, VT, a daughter-in-law, Stephanie (Bedell) Maloney of Peabody, his grandchildren, Leanne Burnett and her husband Adam of Ipswich, Michael Maloney of Boston, Samantha Maloney and Jacquelyn Maloney both of Mission Vieja, CA, a sister, Grace De Wolfe of Oviedo, FL, a brother-in-law, Frederick Lee and his wife Gloria of Ruskin, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of Daniel J. Maloney who died on September 12, 2011 and the brother of the late Frank Maloney and John Maloney.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for his Funeral Service on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 12 Noon at Community Covenant Church, 33 Lake St., Peabody.
