Obituary of Milton R. "Milty" Judd, Jr.
Milton R. “Milty” Judd, Jr., 86, husband of Mary Lou (Fay) Judd of Peabody, died on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Danvers Twin Oaks surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Judd was born in Beverly on April 16, 1925, son of Milton R. and Sylvia (Fredricksen) Judd. He was raised in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School Class of 1942. On March 5, 1943 he enlisted into the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Knox APA 46 and was honorably discharged on April 12, 1946. Prior to moving to Peabody in 1959, Milton resided in Middleton.
Milton began his working career as a salesman with the Heinz Company in Boston and in 1960 he became the sales manager at the Sherwood Forest Mobile Home Park in Exeter, a position he held until his retirement in 1980. He devoted his life creating a loving home for his children and family, as well as supporting his grandchildren in all their accomplishments. He will be well remembered for his great sense of humor. Milton was a member and Past President of the Peabody Lions Club, the Amity – Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., and was an avid golfer, sportsman and enjoyed reading as a hobby.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Stephanie F. and John Sironi of Salem, Thomas M. Judd of Lynn, Scott A. and Lori Judd of Peabody, and Penny L. Judd of Peabody; 5 grandchildren, Suzanne Sironi of Salem, Andrew Sironi of IL, Emily Carter and her husband Jason, Kalie Judd, and Christopher Judd all of Peabody; a brother Raymond Judd of Amesbury, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Judd.
Milty was a man who loved his wife, his family and he always lived life to its fullest. His humor and generous spirit was contagious and he touched everyone including all the staff and residents of Twin Oaks alike. All who knew Milty loved his sense of humor and admired his family values. He presided over and relished in weekly Sunday dinners at his home surrounded by his entire family and friends were always welcomed. He was thrilled and proud to attend his granddaughters Emily’s wedding this past September. He and his wife Mary Lou enjoyed watching their grandchildren play sports throughout their lives. His favorite day was April’s Fools Day where he always managed to outwit everyone.
His words to live by were:
---always keep your sense humor
---don’t grow up too fast
---never kick a man when he is down
Which he instilled in his family.
Here’s to you Dad and Grampy!!!
And he was “exactly” right.
We all miss him dearly and we raise our glasses in his honor.
