Obituary of Armand S. Lussier

Armand S. Lussier, 94, husband of the late Bernadette Dorothy (Lewis) Lussier, died on Tuesday, November 01, 2011 at Salem Hospital. Mr. Lussier was born in Salem on November 21, 1916 son of Alexis and Elmire (Fortin) Lussier. He was raised and educated in Salem and has been a resident of Peabody for most of his life. During WW II he served in the U.S. Army as a Medic and Surgical Technician attached to the Med. Det. 180th Field Artillery Bat and saw battle in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe receiving his honorable discharge on November 1, 1945. Prior to WW II, Armand began his working career as a Bell Hop at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem for many years. Upon his return he was employed at A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody and later as a roofer with the Boston Roofers Union for 30 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid golfer. He was a loving father who devoted his life to his children and later was so proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments and then cherished his 3 great grandchildren. Armand is survived by his children, Joy Tachuk and her husband John of Salem, and John Lussier of Peabody; a dear friend who was like a daughter to him, Colleen Kolodziej of Peabody; his grandchildren, Peter, Anne and Michael Tachuk, Lisa Durand and Tiffany Tachuk; 3 grandchildren Morgan and Riley Tachuk, and Logan Durand; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings George, Leo, Arthur and Harmadus Lussier, Beatrice Brown and Jeanette McLaughlin. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody – Salem line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday, November 4, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Armand’s name to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody, MA 01960. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
