Obituary of Joan M. "Meme" (Pelletier) Mavroules

Joan M. “Meme” (Pelletier) Mavroules, 72, wife of Charles Mavroules of Peabody, died on Tuesday, November 01, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Mrs. Mavroules was born in Salem on February 1, 1939 daughter of Armand N. and Lillian (Carpenter) Pelletier. She was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School Class of 1957. She then studied at the Cosmetology School in Boston. Joan owned and operated Joanne Marie’s Beauty Salon in Middleton until her retirement in 1991. Joan was a loving mother who devoted her life creating a home for her family, and was so proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Her ultimate joy was her great grandchildren whom she cherished. She was physically active walking, swimming and also enjoyed reading as a hobby. Joan and Charles traveled extensively to Jamaica and Greece. In addition to her husband of 36 years, she is survived by her children, Rebecca M. Jones and her husband Byron of Kingston, NH, Pamela M. Mavroules and Mitchell C. Mavroules both of Peabody; her brother, Norman Pelletier of Danvers; her grandchildren, Christopher Hagen, Jason and Jill Re, Melissa Re, Nicole Mavroules – Ryan and Michael Ryan, Alycia Hagen, Timothy Mavroules, James Page, Stephen Mavroules and Nicole Cennami; 6 great grandchildren, Anna, Gracie, Nickolas, Tanjelah, Wyatt and Quentin; 2 nieces, Denise and Linda; many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Claudette “Jeannie” Buckley. Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
