Obituary of Herman Francis Vorel

Herman F. Vorel, 90, of Peabody and formerly of Orleans, died Tuesday afternoon at his home in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Herman and Valeda (Tremblay) Vorel. He was raised and educated in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School in 1939. He continued his education at Boston College and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in1943. After graduating from Boston College, Herman entered the United States Navy and served during WWII until being honorably discharged in 1947. Following his military service, Herman moved to Colonia, New Jersey where he lived for over 35 years. While living in New Jersey, he worked as a Sr. Chemist for the Merck Company. Following his retirement, he moved to Orleans where he lived for over 30 years. Herman enjoyed boating, traveling, and golfing and while living on the Cape he was a member of the German Club of Cape Cod. He is survived by his siblings Donald and his wife Judy Vorel of Sparta, NJ and his sister Marjorie Daly of Newport Richey, FL, a brother John Anthony Vorel of Gilford, NH, and sister Joanne Vorel of NH, a sister-in-law, Barbara Vorel of Middleton, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Vincent Vorel and Constance Tatterfield. A graveside Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 226 North St., Salem, MA to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472. .
