Obituary of Gy Sgt Edison Arthur Waldron, USMC, Ret.

Gy Sgt Edison A. Waldron, U.S.M.C., Ret., 78, of 50 Harrison Ave, beloved husband of the late Gloria L. (Huysman) Waldron, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday morning at the Union Hospital in Lynn after being stricken at his home. Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Emmons and Harriett (Slusinski) Waldron. He lived in Revere while attending school, and graduated from the Boston Trade School. He lived in Peabody for almost 40 years. Mr. Waldron served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and he continued for a 23-year career in the Marines. He also worked as a Salesman with the E.B. Harvey & Associates Automotive Parts in Chestnut Hill before completely retiring in 1988. He was active in several organizations, including the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 3 of Boston, the Top Three Association of Abington, the Marine Corps League/ Essex County Division, the 1st Marine Division, and kept close contact with the 10th Defense Battalion of the U.S.M.C. from WW II. He is survived by: three sons, Robert Waldron of FL, Edward Waldron of Warren, MA, and Brian Waldron of Peabody; three daughters, Barbara Abramowski of Chesapeake, VA, Ruth Waldron and Debra Waldron, both of Peabody; eight grandchildren; two Triplet brothers, Lester Waldron of Keene, NH and Stuart Waldron of Sanborn (Buffalo), NY; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Huysman) Waldron. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Friday at the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, from 7 to 9 P.M. and Saturday from 2 - 4 & 7 to 7:55 P.M. A Military Ritual and Life Commemoration Ceremony will be held on Saturday at 8 P.M. Cremation will follow later, along with urn burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery at a future date.
