Obituary of Conrad "Connie Mac" Makarewicz

Conrad “Connie Mac” Makarewicz Sr., 75, passed away early Wednesday November 9, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center Hospital in Burlington following a brief illness while in the comforting presence of his family.. Born in Salem, he was the son of Helen (Nozko) Makarewicz Kelley of Middleton and the late John Makarewicz. He grew up in Salem, graduated from Salem High School, and from the GE Apprentice School in Lynn Mr. Makarewicz worked for GE, and furthered his education by achieving his Professional Engineering License in Safety Engineering where he practiced at the Kemper Insurance Company as a Safety Engineer and Branch Manager. Connie was an avid golfer where he achieved multiple “holes-in-ones” and recently worked at Lakeview Golf Course. He enjoyed boating, fishing and water skiing in the lakes of New Hampshire and was an avid square dancer and organized many of the Square dance functions. He was an active member of the Polish Club in Danvers, the Knights of Columbus in Danvers, and the Vittori Rocci Post in Beverly. He is survived by two sons both of Danvers, Mac Makarewicz and Marty Makarewicz and his significant other Karen Griffith; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Joe Curley of Danvers; four grandsons, Tim, Sean, Kevin and James Curley all of Danvers; his mother, Helen Makarewicz Kelley of Middleton, and a special longtime companion, Pauline Deschene of Danvers and her family. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 – 4 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday November 14, 2011 at 11:30 AM for his Funeral Service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
