Obituary of Judith A. "Judy" (Lau) Wayne

Judith A. (“Judy”) (Lau) Wayne, 69, of Peabody, wife of A. Steven Wayne, died on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. Judy was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 16, 1942 daughter of the late Gustav and Martha (Gould) Lau. She was raised in Detroit, graduating from Denby High School. She pursued her education at Wayne State University with a Degree in Occupational Therapy and later obtained her Masters in Management from Cambridge College. Prior to moving to Peabody in 1999, Judy resided in Malden. Judy was employed as an occupational therapist at Danvers State Hospital, later transferring to Tewksbury State Hospital retiring in 2010 after 45 years of dedicated service. She was a loving mother who devoted her life creating a home for her daughter, and later was so proud of her 3 grandchildren and their accomplishments. Judy enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, shopping and will be remembered by her family and friends for her great smile and sense of humor. In addition to her husband of 40 years, Judy is survived by her daughter, Sarah A. Britt and her husband Richard D. Britt, Sr. of Peabody; 3 cherished grandchildren, Joseph G. Britt, Richard D. Britt, Jr., and Lillianna G. Britt all of Peabody; a brother, Richard Lau of MI; her mother-in-law, Mildred Wayne of Saugus; her sister-in-law, Dr. Deborah Wayne of Saugus and many cousins. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may pay their respect on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
