Obituary of Helen (Baldwin) Flynn Perkins

Peabody, November 18, 2011. Helen Fay Baldwin Flynn Perkins, born October 7, 1936, loving daughter of Nicholas and Marietta Baldwin previous of Nahant, Ma. devoted sister to Mary Walden and Phil Baldwin and loving wife of Joseph Perkins of Peabody, Ma. Helen spent her early years in Somerville, Ma until her family moved to Nahant. Her family was a fixture in Nahant life, owning 2 stores. She later married William Flynn and had three daughters. These daughters, Colleen O’Connell of Woodstock, Vt., Kelley Lynch of Amityville, NY, and Kathy Garland of Swampscott, Ma were her heart and soul. She was noted for her profound devotion to her children and her grandchildren, a devotion she kept alive until the end. Upon her marriage to Joseph Perkins, she became a devoted grandmother to Joseph’s grandchildren and a true friend to his children, Brian, Betsey, James, Steve and Jeff. She will always be remembered for her giving spirit, her passion for her family, and her love and attention to her many friends. Her family and friends will miss her great food, her conviviality and her warm presence. Her grandchildren will miss the love and attention she paid them. And her children will miss the unconditional love she felt for them every day of their lives. She truly was the center of love and hope, faith and charity and she will be remembered for this. Among her survivors include her grandchildren Conor and Julia Lynch, Caleb and Kevan O’Connell, Chelsea and Miles Garland, as well as the Perkins grandchildren. Also, her beloved sons-in-laws, Gregory Lynch, Kent Garland and Dan O’Connell as well as her brother-in-law Chet Walden and sister-in-law Kathy Baldwin and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Church in Peabody, Ma on Monday the 21st of November at 11 am. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Nahant, Mass.
