Obituary of Harold M Hoag

Harold M. Hoag, 89, of Peabody, died early Sunday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a short illness. He was the devoted husband of Isabelle (Sheris) Hoag with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Peter and Bertha (Lundieu) Hoag. He was raised and educated in Chicago, later moved to Lynn and has spent the last 61 years living in Peabody. Harold attended Northeastern University for a year before entering the military with the United States Navy and served his country during World War II before being honorably discharged in 1948. Upon his completions of his military service, he returned to Northeastern University and received his degree in engineering. He retired from General Electric in Lynn as a mechanical engineer and prior to working for GE, he worked for Sylvania. Harold enjoyed traveling, reading his bible daily, and listening to his short wave radio. He spoke several languages and would often listen toEuropean broadcasts, including nightly Vatican radio. He was proud of Swedish heritage and enjoyed listening to polka and classical music. He also was a long time usher on Saturday’s at St. Ann’s Church in Peabody. Besides his loving wife Isabelle, he is survived by three nephews, William Fader, James and his wife Loretta Fader and Robert Fader, all of Peabody, his three nieces, Carol and her husband John Roberts of Saugus, Christine Sheris of Lynn and Rosemary Sheris of Georgia, a great nephew, Keith Fader of Peabody and his other family members, Marolyn and Michael Ciarletta of Salem. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 5:30 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Funeral Service will be held at 5:30 PM at the Funeral Home and burial services will be private.
