Obituary of Ana S. (Ramos) Bettencourt

Ana S. (Ramos) Bettencourt PEABODY Ana S. (Ramos) Bettencourt, 89, beloved wife of the late Jose Correia Bettencourt, died Sunday at the Peabody Glenn Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Espinola Ramos and Ana Sousa da Silva. She lived in Peabody for many years, and became a United States Citizen in 1962. Mrs. Bettencourt worked as a Stitcher with Sirois Leather Company in Peabody for many years before her retirement 27 years ago. She was a communicant at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody, and was a member of the Holy Ghost Society. She was living with five generations, and leaves: two sons and daughters-in-law, Manuel & Maria Isabel Bettencourt and Arthur & Ana Bettencourt, both of Peabody; one daughter and son-in-law, Maria & Manuel Picanco of Peabody; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, including Manuel S. Ramos, Domingos Ramos, Antonio Ramos, Joao Ramos, Maria Ramos Correia, and Julia Silveira. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
