Obituary of Stanley Gizitsky

Stanley Gizitsky, 96, of Peabody, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Cedar Glenn Nursing Home in Danvers after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Helen (Kayser) Gizitsky. He was born in Lynn on January 28, 1915, the son of the late John and Karoline (Malinowski) Gizitsky and had resided in Peabody all his life. Stanley had first worked at the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Co., Peabody and later operated Stanley’s Grill on Warren Street Peabody for many years. He then entered the US Army in 1942 and served in WW II overseas in the Pacific theatre campaign prior to his honorable discharge in 1946. He later worked in the Maintenance Department for the City of Peabody in the Peabody School System for 9 years retiring in 1983. Stanley will be remembered for his devotion to his family, kindness, patience, modesty and respect for others. His life was filled with love, integrity, humor and generosity of spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many whose hearts he touched. He shared a special relationship with his grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed working in his garden and sharing his tomatoes and cucumbers with friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed playing golf and had been a member of the Peabody High School golf team. He loved reading and listening to music. He is survived by a son, Steven Gizitsky of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Peter Buchan of Milford, two grandchildren, Emily and John Buchan of Milford and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter and Joseph Gizitsky and Mary Kutza. In Stanley’s memory, his family requests that you perform an act of kindness for someone. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the family lot in St. Joseph Cemetery, Broadway, Lynn, MA at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
