Obituary of Ada Blanche (Hazel) Furey

Ada B. Blanche (Hazel) Furey, 79 years of Peabody, wife of the late William J. Furey died Sunday at the Radius Nursing Home in Beverly following a brief illness. Mrs. Furey was born June 12, 1923 in Bolton, MA daughter of the late LeRoy C. and Matilda R. (Brindamour) Hazel. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from St. John’ s Girls High School and was a communicant at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. She began her working career as an assembler at Western Electric then was employed for many years at the Deerskin Trading Post in Peabody as a seamstress until her retirement in 1980. Mrs. Furey was very involved with local children as a den mother. She loved playing the piano, reading, crocheting, sewing and gardening. Following her retirement she became an active member of the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center and the Peabody Council on Aging. She is survived by two brothers, Joseph Arthur Hazel of Peabody and Maurice Hazel of Haverhill; two sisters, Alma Cook of Billerica and Leona Nagy of Ohio; several nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Jeanne Whitcomb-Rossignol and Ralph and Norton Hazel. Her funeral Will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. Peabody location 978-531-0472. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. Inurnment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
