Obituary of Lorraine J. (Lavoie) Levesque

Lorraine J. (Lavoie) Levesque, 82, of Beverly, wife of Roland F. Levesque, died peacefully at home on Friday, January 6, 2012 surrounded by her devoted family. Mrs. Levesque was born in Salem on April 6, 1929 daughter of the late Leopold and Marguerite (Proulx) Lavoie. She was raised in Salem and graduated from L’Academie St. Joseph in Salem and then attended hairdressing school. Lorraine lived in Salem for many years and owned Lorraine’s Beauty Salon until her retirement in 1981. In 1993, she and her husband Roland moved to Beverly. She enjoyed sailing with Roland and were members of the Palmer Cove Yatch Club in Salem. As hobbies, she was an avid painter and enjoyed knitting for her family. Lorraine will be well remembered for her sophisticated style and loving personality which touched many people. Lorraine was very devoted to her husband Roland Levesque of 63 years and to her children and their spouses, Joanne and John Lund of Beverly, Claire and Thomas Welenc of Peabody, and Marguerite and James Ellis of Danvers. Lorraine also enjoyed and loved spending time with her grandchildren, Lindsay Welenc, Elizabeth Croteau, Daniel Lund, Emily Lund, Laurianne Gelsomini, Charleen McCarthy, Kim Cerullo and Deborah Ellis. She especially loved playing with her great grandchildren, Emerson and Elliot Lund, and Isabelle Welenc. Lorraine also leaves behind her dear sister Claire Field and her husband Bob. At the family’s request, there will be no visiting hours and her interment will be private. The family requested that donations be made in Lorraine’s memory to Aberdeen Home Care, who lovingly took care of her during her illness. Aberdeen Home Care, Staff Education Fund, P.O.
